Webteam: February 2019
At Caldy Valley Church on Saturday 23nd March at 7.30pm, we are privileged to host an evening with the Rev'd Mike Long.
Mike Long moved from his church in Muswell Hill to become superintendent minister of Notting Hill Methodist church in April 2017. On the 14th June, fire swept through Grenfell tower and 72 people perished in the blaze. The church, along with other places of worship in the area, became a focus for the thousands of people who needed comfort and those who wanted to help. Mike and his congregation had to respond to the needs of those people affected by the fire and those who came to help. Through the disorientating first days to the present, Mike reflects on how the wider faith community in the area supported those affected by the tragedy. He talks about the strong links and friendships that were formed out of that experience. He highlights the lessons to be learnt for a community having to deal with a disaster on the scale of Grenfell.
We look forward to seeing you on March 23rd.
Mike will also be preaching at Wesley the following morning, March 24th at 10.30 a.m.
